Busy Week of Engagement for Wyoming’s Credit Unions

This week GoWest was out in the southeast corner of the state with our credit union key contacts meeting with legislators to discuss credit union priorities including electronic titling and public funds.

Jamie Hysell, WyHy FCU and Bobbie Frank, VP Legislative Affairs met this week with Joe Webb, HD 19 candidate in Lyman and Senator Wendy Schuler, SD 15 in Evanston. Webb won the republican primary for this seat against incumbent Jon Conrad. Although there are no general contenders on the ballot, word has it Conrad is running a write-in campaign in an attempt to win his seat back. Senator Schuler was not up for election this year. She serves on the Senate Judiciary committee and is Chair of the Senate Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee.

Suzette Williams, WyHy FCU and Frank also met the following day in Rock Springs with Representative Scott Heiner, HD 18. Heiner currently serves on the House Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee, which has jurisdiction over banking issues, and is rumored to be the likely Chair of the Committee. He also serves on Select Federal Natural Resource Management Committee.

Brian Rohrbacher, Atlantic City FCU and Dawn Greene, Trona Valley FCU joined Frank at the Wyoming Association of County Officers convention in Rock Springs. They were able to discuss strategy with a Fremont County Commissioner for gaining support from the Wyoming County Commissioners Association for public fund legislation as well as visit with Barry Crago, Senator-elect of SD 22 representing Johnson and Sheridan counties.  Frank also attended a session with Wyoming’s County Clerks and Treasurer’s along with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and Wyoming Auto Dealers Association to discuss the electronic titling effort and sales tax collection.
