Celebrating Credit Union Excellence: Nominations Now Open for the GoWest Awards

Credit union award season has officially arrived!  

We are thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 GoWest Awards.
 

An Occasion to Applaud the Achievements of Credit Unions 

Last year marked our inaugural GoWest Awards and we are proud to bring this highly anticipated celebration back to MAXX 2024.  

Join hundreds of professionals from across the credit union community to recognize and applaud the individuals, teams, and initiatives that have exemplified the Credit Union Movement this past year.  

The GoWest Awards has eight main categories – four to spotlight the cooperative spirit of credit unions and four to honor individuals that have made outstanding contributions to development and growth within the industry.

Award Categories  

Employee Experience 

Recognizes a credit union that has intentionally built a culture of internal professional development by fostering a positive work environment, providing tools for growth, and encouraging and supporting career development.  

Member Program 

Recognizes a credit union that has developed an initiative, business model, program, or service that addresses the local, social, cultural, or economic needs that are specific to the credit union’s membership.  

Community Impact 

Recognizes a credit union that has demonstrated the value of its unique structure through a comprehensive approach to social responsibility and community impact throughout its institution.  

Cooperation in Action 

Recognizes two or more credit unions, a CU Community or CU Communities, or credit union professionals from separate credit unions, working together in the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, which results in a much greater impact. 

Young Professional  

Recognizes a next-generation credit union leader. This individual demonstrates a commitment to credit union advocacy, community service, and excellence in credit union operations or team building with proven results.  

Distinguished Director 

Recognizes the outstanding achievement and accomplishments of a credit union board member who demonstrates commitment and leadership in credit union advocacy, community service, and the ongoing success of their credit union.  

Summit Advocate 

Recognizes the outstanding achievement and accomplishments of a credit union professional who demonstrates commitment and leadership in credit union advocacy.  

Summit Icon 

Recognizes a credit union professional who exemplifies outstanding overall and sustained leadership in the Credit Union Movement with respect to advocacy efforts, social responsibility, credit union philosophy, and community impact.
 

Nomination Inspiration  

“Every day, we witness incredible efforts that GoWest member credit unions make to create a positive change within our communities, and we are proud to once again shine a light on the outstanding professionals, volunteers, and credit unions that continually go above and beyond,” shared GoWest’s VP of Member Impact, Christine Ruzzi. When asked about what makes a solid award entry she described, “The Recognition Advisory Group thoroughly reviews each entry and appreciates ample context and supporting samples to ensure we have enough criteria to honor the leading entries in each category.”  

Take a look at one of GoWest’s 2023 Community Impact award winners, TruWest Credit Union, for inspiration as you begin your nomination. TruWest turned their 70th anniversary into an opportunity to make a long-lasting impact on nonprofits and organizations in their communities, and to inspire and energize their 250 employees that put in 700 hours of volunteer work in 70 days in recognition of the significant milestone.
