Job Description:

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring the Credit Union is in compliance with all state and federal regulations, laws, and rules. Analyzes new and pending compliance requirements affecting the Credit Union’s practices. Develops, revises, communicates, and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Performs the role of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer for the credit union.

Requirements

  • Compiles all internal and third-party audit findings, tracking subsequent management responses. Maintaining on-going reporting documenting the findings and responses providing regular reporting to the audit committee.
  • Maintains the vendor management program. Ensuring that up-to-date vendor documentation is maintained, and all vendors are evaluated for level of risk to the organization, coordinating risk reviews with lines of business and the third-party risk assessment vendor.
  • Compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions of compliance audits, reports violations as appropriate, provides recommendations for improvement, and follows up to ensure compliance. Maintains records and documentation of compliance activities, complaints, investigations, and outcomes. Analyzes, prepares, and files appropriate reports with regulatory agencies. Prepares and presents reports concerning Credit Union compliance issues to Management, as requested.
  • Works with management to review, assess, develop, revise, and ensure the adequacy of programs, policies, and procedures designed to safeguard Credit Union assets and maintain regulatory compliance. Ensures policies and procedures are appropriately disseminated. Works with management to develop, direct, and implement a compliance program and schedule to review internal Credit Union areas for compliance. Investigates complaints.
  • Stays informed of new and pending laws and developments related to compliance issues, analyzes requirements, appropriately revises policies and procedures, and ensures communication and implementation of regulatory changes. Provides employee training on compliance related issues and policy changes. Develops a library of compliance resources for employee use.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • A two year college degree in finance/related field or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.  
  • Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) or equivalent certification preferred. Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) designation desired.
  • Experience with vendor management is preferred.
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills along with demonstrated research, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Previous experience with financial institutions.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting pay of $25.00-$31.00/hourly, depending on experience, education and qualifications.
