Credit Union Tax Status Not Included in Budget Reconciliation Bill!
Posted by Ryan Fitzgerald on May 12, 2025

Today, The House Ways and Means Committee has released its first draft of a comprehensive tax reconciliation bill and it does not include any changes to credit unions’ tax exemption.
Thank you all for your continued attention and swift responses to our strategic and targeted grassroots advocacy efforts. While it is a relief to see that credit unions are not included in the initial bill, this is just the first step in a long process.
We will continue closely monitoring developments as Congress moves into the committee markup phase, scheduled to begin tomorrow, May 13.
To our CEOs, a reminder to review and respond by the end of the day today to our request for your signature in the state-specific letters to our Congressional delegation.
To our advocates, thank you for your responsiveness, and for being ready to mobilize if and when needed. You can expect to see more updates here as the bill moves through the process.
