Public Deposits Clears Committee

After hearing testimony from Wyoming’s County Commissioners Association, Wyoming Association of Municipalities, Wyoming State Treasurer’s Association and Sweetwater County Treasurer, the Mayor of Shoshoni, GoWest Credit Union Association and the Wyoming Bankers Association the House Minerals, Business and Economic Development committee with a unanimous vote of the eight committee members present moved Senate File 143 – Public monies – deposits in credit unions bill out of committee.  One committee member is out due to health issues.

The effort credit unions invested in developing relationships and having meetings to explain the issue and the challenges they face in serving their members and communities was visible in the support received from the committee.

The legislature will take a three-day weekend and return on Tuesday.  It is anticipated that SF 143 will be heard in Committee of the Whole on Tuesday.

The other credit union priority bills, Senate File 25 – Electronic lien and titling and House Bill 41- Environmental Quality – irrevocable letters of credit both passed Committee of the Whole in their respective houses yesterday without any questions or issues and passed second reading today.  It is anticipated both will be on the third reading-consent list on Tuesday.
