Public Deposits Bill Clears Wyoming Senate
Posted by Bobbie Frank on February 6, 2025

The Wyoming Senate passed SF 143 – Public monies – deposits in credit unions passed the Senate last night on a 19 to 8 vote, with four members excused. The engagement of credit union advocates to meet and educate legislators and staying engaged in the process was key to this success.
This is a major achievement as previous attempts at passing this legislation typically failed to get through the Senate. Senator Nethercott, the lead sponsor, was able to respond to the opposition and was instrumental to the legislations passage along with the bills co-sponsors.
The bill will now go to the House for introduction and reference to committee.
The credit union other priority bills, SF 25 – Electronic Lien and Titling System and HB 41 – Environmental Quality – Irrevocable letters of credit are also pending introduction and referral in the second house.
