Legislative Committee Appointments Announced

The leadership of the Wyoming Senate and House announced on Saturday their committee appointments for the upcoming legislative session.

Committees with jurisdiction for credit union led legislation Electronic Lien and Titling System legislation is the Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs. The Minerals, Business and Economic Development committee also typically has jurisdiction over banking and banking-related issues.  A full committee roster is available here.

House

Expectations were that with the Freedom Caucus taking the majority in the House that committee chairs would be stacked with Freedom Caucus aligned members. However, that was not the case with Representative Landon Brown, Laramie County, keeping his Chair position of House Transportation and Art Washut, Natrona County, retaining his Chair of the Judiciary Committee.

In addition to Chairman Brown, new members of the House Transportation Committee, are Dalton Banks; Rob Geringer; Lloyd Larsen; Darin McCann; Bob Nicholas; Ivan Posey; Reuben Tarver; Cody Wylie.  All members are new with the exception of Representative Wylie.

Minerals, Business & Economic Development Chair will be Representative Scott Heiner, Sweetwater County, who will also serve as the Majority Floor Leader in the coming session. Joining him on the Committee include Kevin Campbell; Christopher Knapp; J.T. Larson; Martha Lawley; J.R. Riggins; Mike Schmid; Reuben Tarver; Nina Webber.  The new members include Campbell, Riggins, Schmid, Webber.

The largest committee turnover occurred on the House Appropriations Committee with Trey Sherwood, Albany County Democrat being the only member staying on the committee.

 

Senate

On the Senate side the most notable change was the stripping Senators Hicks, Steinmetz and Boner of their Committee Chair positions.

The Senate Transportation Committee Chair went to Senator Pappas, Laramie County, and members are Jim Anderson; Evie Brennan; Ed Cooper; John Kolb. Anderson and Cooper are new to the Committee.

Senate Minerals Chair will be Senator Jim Anderson, Natrona County replacing Senator Dockstader, Lincoln County. Joining him on the Committee will be Ed Cooper; Stacey Jones; Tara Nethercott; Chris Rothfuss. All are currently serving on the committee with the exception of Nethercott.

The Senate Appropriations Committee will be Tim Salazar, Chairman; Ogden Driskill; Mike Gierau; Dan Laursen; Darin Smith. New to the Committee are Driskill, Laursen and Smith.
