GoWest Connects with Policymakers at NCSL
Posted by Katie March on August 8, 2024

GoWest credit unions were well represented at this week’s National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Legislative Summit in Louisville, KY. The summit is an annual conference providing the opportunity for credit union advocates to engage directly with state policymakers on important credit union priorities.
In a combined effort with America’s Credit Unions (ACU) and the leagues, advocates manned a trade show booth giving staff the opportunity to connect with policymakers in attendance.
The well-attended conference was filled with themes of big hats, horse racing, and great advocacy and policy conversations. GoWest’s Katie March was able to speak with many lawmakers at the conference.
NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
The booth was a popular stop in the exhibition hall, not only because credit union representatives were there, but because the team embraced the enthusiasm of the Olympics by showing a feed on the booth’s television set. All in all, it was a productive and enjoyable week to emphasize the importance of good policy for credit unions and to share the valuable impact they make in their communities.
