E-titling rises to top of priorities for Transportation Committee

Today the Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs committee met to discuss interim study topics.

On behalf of a coalition of organizations the GoWest Credit Union Association submitted electronic titling as a proposed interim study topic sponsored by Representatives Cody Wylie, J.T. Larson and Landon Brown. The coalition supporting the interim study topic include the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Wyoming County Treasurers, Wyoming County Clerks Association, GoWest Credit Union Association, Wyoming Bankers Association, Wyoming Automobile Dealers Association, Wyoming Trucking Association, American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA), Insurance Auto Auctions, Wyoming Towing & Recovery Association, Association of Wyoming Insurance Agents, and State Farm Insurance.

After discussion, the interim topic was identified as a priority by the Committee leadership. The Senate Transportation Committee Chair pointed out due to the committee’s workload, the coalition of organizations supporting the electronic titling topic needed to be prepared to work on language and bring it to the committee. We committed to rolling our sleeves up and getting to work on statutory review and draft amendments.

The Committee leadership will now submit their proposed list of interim study topics to the Management Council. The Council ultimately approves interim study topics. They typically meet shortly after the session to review and approve interim study topics.

GoWest will track and participate in the interim committee meetings. The Joint Transportation Committee has scheduled to meet June 3-4 in Rocksprings, September 3-4 in Laramie, and October 24-25 in Cheyenne.
