Credit Union Leaders Participate in Oregon Economic Summit

The 2026 Oregon Business & Industry (OBI) Economic Summit, held last week in Salem, centered on Oregon’s competitiveness, current economic conditions, and what policymakers should do to improve growth. Its program was built around three main parts: an analysis of Oregon’s economic condition and key trends, a panel on what other states are doing better, and a call to action for Oregon leaders, followed by closing remarks.

GoWest and OnPoint CCU sponsored the meeting and several credit union leaders attended from Rogue CCU, Consolidated CCU, MAPS CU, OSU CU, Central Willamette, Valley CU and Trailhead CU.  Several Oregon Legislative leaders attended including Senate President Rob Wagner and Republican candidate for Governor Christine Drazen.

OBI framed the summit around the idea of “Changing Our Trajectory,” signaling concern that Oregon needs a more urgent, pro-growth policy approach. The event was positioned as a conversation among thought leaders about the state’s economic challenges and the urgency of responding to them. The summit’s core message was that Oregon’s economy is not just a matter of individual business performance, but of state policy, competitiveness, and long-term planning. It highlighted the need to understand how Oregon compares with other states and to respond with policies that support private-sector growth.
