Hope Under the Big Top: Hazel’s Journey Shows Why CU4Kids Matters

Cue the lights and magic because this year’s CU4Kids Benefit Auction at MAXX 2025 is going to be A Night of Wonder! This vintage circus-themed extravaganza, inspired by The Greatest Showman, Cirque du Soleil, and Moulin Rouge, is coming to the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

This annual gala will once again be the best in the West! Last year, thanks to the generosity of attendees and supporters, $1.2 million was raised for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the GoWest region. This year, we hope to blow the roof off the tent to make an even greater impact.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion – Hazel

Each year, a very special guest joins us at the gala to share their story. This year, we have the pleasure of hosting Hazel and her family at A Night of Wonder.

Hazel has a rare genetic disorder, PCDH19-epilepsy, which causes frequent seizures and developmental challenges. At OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Hazel found not just medical expertise but also unwavering support. The hospital’s dedication, coupled with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ funding, ensures Hazel receives the care she needs to manage her condition and thrive.

Thanks to donations like those made by CU4Kids, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has been able to provide Hazel with quality care during her multiple hospital stays, allowing her to manage her condition and thrive.

Today, Hazel is ready to tackle the fourth grade, and her infectious energy and charismatic personality light up every room. She is full of life and loves to run, climb, laugh, and dream big!

We are excited to have Hazel and her family join us for this special night that will help bring hope to families like Hazel’s across the West.
