Canvas Credit Union CFO and Interim CEO Colleen Knoll Named Outstanding Woman in Business

Canvas Credit Union’s CFO and Interim CEO Colleen Knoll was named a 2024 Outstanding Woman in Business by the Denver Business Journal.

According to the Denver Business Journal, Colleen Knoll was in her 40s when she decided to become a certified public accountant, which required going back to school to take additional accounting classes. “At the time, it felt like a significant challenge,” Knoll said, “but looking back, it was an incredible investment in myself and my career.”

Knoll has been Canvas’ CFO since 2012 and was appointed interim CEO earlier this year.

“Our aim is to enhance the financial well-being of individuals and families, and to solidify Canvas Credit Union as a trusted financial partner throughout the state,” Knoll said. To further that trust, Knoll helped implement a new budgeting tool last year, improving accountability and reducing waste at the credit union. Knoll said the more granular approach to budgeting has encouraged departments to be more proactive and strategic, and she considers the launch of this budgeting tool her biggest professional accomplishment of the last year.

“I have the privilege of empowering members across Colorado to afford life, ensuring they have the tools and resources to navigate their financial journeys successfully,” Knoll told the Denver Business Journal. “This journey has been incredibly fulfilling, blending my passion for financial planning with a deep commitment to community enrichment.”

In her free time, Knoll fosters her personal connection to her state by working with the Centennial Lending a Hand Foundation and fly fishing, hiking and skiing in the mountains.
