Prepare for Election Season By Registering to Vote
Posted by Pam Leavitt on September 16, 2026
The November election will decide the direction of policy for the nation and your state. Are you and your team ready?
Credit unions are deeply impacted by decisions made at the federal and state level. Voting helps ensure that candidates who understand and support credit union priorities make it to Congress and your state legislature.
Make sure you and your team are registered to vote today as we prepare for a pivotal general election.
One Simple Place to Check Your Status
For credit union advocates in the GoWest region, voter registration information is easy to access.
Visit Credit Unions Vote (also available through the Advocacy Toolbox).
Through this resource, you can:
- Check your current voter registration status
- Register to vote if you’re not already registered
- Find state-specific election and registration information
You May Need to Update Your Registration
Even if you’re already registered, your state may require an update if you’ve experienced any of the following changes:
- You’ve moved (even within the same state)
- You’ve changed your name (including after marriage)
- Your marital status has changed
- Your voter registration information is outdated or incomplete
Failing to update your registration could prevent you from voting in the general election.
Each state also has its own voter registration cutoffs, which can occur weeks—or even months—before the election itself. Make sure to register now before registration deadlines keep you from voting.
Advocacy starts long before Election Day.
Taking just a few minutes now to confirm your voter registration helps protect your voice—and the collective voice of the credit union movement.
Take Action Today:
✔️ Check your registration
✔️ Update your information if needed
✔️ Encourage your colleagues to do the same
