Arizona Legislative Session is Underway

The Arizona 57th Legislature, 2nd Regular Session, convened on January 12, 2026. With 11 days of session underway, the legislature has been busy with bill introductions, early votes, and one veto already underway. Members of both the House and the Senate have introduced almost 1,300 bills. As of January 15th, members can only introduce 7 bills total until the introduction deadline. All Senate bills must be introduced by February 2nd, and all House bills must be introduced by February 9th. Arizona is constitutionally set for 100-day sessions and does not have a “short” and “long” session like other states.

The Legislature has already introduced and voted on a tax conformity bill outside of the budget that was deemed a partisan bill to significantly cut taxes for wealthy Arizonans. The Governor vetoed the bill and joined minority leadership to introduce a “middle class tax cut” legislation. These conversations will continue to evolve throughout the legislative session and broader budget discussions.

The Governor gave her annual State of the State address on Monday, the 12th, highlighting the need for affordability for working families throughout the state. She released her budget on Friday, the 16th, which included resources for: efficiencies, housing initiatives, education funding, and many others.
