Girl Scouts Gain Real-World Skills at Colorado Credit Union Workshop

Colorado Credit Union hosted more than 50 Girl Scouts at its headquarters for the annual Junior Financial Counselor Patch workshop, helping youth in the community build essential financial and leadership skills.

“Financial literacy is more than just handling money; it’s about shaping informed citizens who can navigate life’s complexities,” said Leanna Clark, CEO of Girl Scouts of Colorado. “By introducing these critical skills early, we’re equipping our girls to be financially savvy and helping them make informed decisions that will benefit them throughout their lives.”

During the event, Girl Scouts participated in interactive activities, including the Bite of Reality, an app-based reality fair designed to help Girl Scouts practice making purchases while separating money between needs, wants, and savings, and exploring strategies to stay on track with their financial goals.

“Colorado Credit Union is proud to support Girl Scouts of Colorado through the Junior Financial Counselor Patch Program and new hands-on Reality Fair,” said Mike Williams, Colorado Credit Union President. “As Girl Scouts embark on their savings journeys, our Reality Fair experience helps Girl Scouts apply financial literacy in real-life scenarios, making budgeting and savings decisions that build confidence and lifelong money skills.”

Girl Scouts across Colorado can also earn their Junior Financial Counselor Patch through virtual materials, including an online Bite of Reality experience. This program empowers Girl Scouts to share the financial knowledge they gain with others in their community, extending the impact of financial education.
