Money Smarts Made Simple: P1FCU’s Newsletter and Podcast Help Members Thrive

As part of its ongoing mission to empower members with the tools and knowledge needed for financial success, P1FCU, which serves members in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, has expanded its educational outreach with innovative resources designed to inform and inspire. In recent years, the credit union has rolled out both a monthly newsletter and a new podcast — each aimed at making financial literacy more accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life. These initiatives reflect P1FCU’s deepening commitment to “Financial Well-being For All,” offering practical insights that resonate well beyond traditional banking services.

In 2024, P1FCU launched a monthly financial literacy newsletter called “Basecamp,” offering free tips and strategies to improve members’ financial well-being and insights into all the resources they have access to as a P1FCU member. The newsletter, which highlights topics like first-time home buying, credit score myths, breaking the holiday debt cycle, and more, won a Diamond Award in the Financial Education category at the America’s Credit Unions Marketing and Business Development Council Conference in March. Since its inception, Basecamp has attracted more than 4,000 blog visits and nearly 1,830 subscribers.

The credit union has put an even more significant focus on financial literacy in 2025 by launching a new podcast called “Making Sense of Money.” It explores all things finance through honest conversations with guests from all walks of life — business owners, a nutritionist, police detectives, and more. This isn’t a platform to promote the credit union; it’s about sharing stories and helpful insights that anyone can benefit from, whether they’re a member or not. Since its debut, they have released bi-weekly episodes, including a special Fraud Edition during Fraud Awareness Month.

“At P1FCU, we’re committed to supporting our members through their financial well-being journey. Our Making Sense of Money podcast is just one more way we’re putting that commitment into action,” explained Chris Loseth, President and CEO of P1FCU. “By delivering accessible, real-world financial guidance that helps our members build confidence and make informed decisions, we are helping members take control of their financial future.”
