Consolidated Community Credit Union Announces Merger Agreement with KaiPerm NW Credit Union

Consolidated Community Credit Union (CCCU) announced plans on March 18 to merge with KaiPerm NW Credit Union (KPCU). Pending regulatory and member approval, the expanded organization will have combined assets just under $800 million, while serving Hood River, Skamania, Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Clark, Columbia, and Yamhill counties and Kaiser Permanente employees and health plan members in the Pacific Northwest.
This announcement follows CCCU’s recent merger with Providence Federal Credit Union, set to be complete in June 2025. After which, CCCU’s field of membership will expand further to include the employees of Providence Health and the United Domestic Workers (UDW).
As the competitive landscape in financial services continues to change, the Directors and leadership teams of both credit unions sought to create greater value for their combined members, employees, and communities. Both KPCU and CCCU have demonstrated continued success as long-standing independent organizations.
“This is a very exciting time for our credit union and our membership,” said Ed Waite, KPCU President and CEO. “We really liked the support of a larger organization while maintaining the personal service of a local credit union. We have a long history of being a very successful credit union, and we owe it to our members to continue to build on this strong foundation to ensure that we remain a viable institution for generations to come.”
KPCU and CCCU have a long-standing history of working together. CCCU has been assisting KPCU and its members with their residential real estate loans for more than 20 years. “The Board was committed to finding a partner that valued KaiPerm’s history and wanted to build on the credit union’s success,” said Dr. Bill Borok, KPCU’s Board Chair.
Waite will be retiring upon completion of the merger and Larry Ellifritz, the current President and CEO of CCCU, will become the President and CEO of the combined organization. Two members of KPCU’s current Board of Directors will transition to the ongoing Board, and all KPCU employees will be retained.
“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with KPCU and to extend our products and services to their members,” said Ellifritz. “Ed and his team have built a great brand, and we are very honored to continue working with them.”
“I am excited to combine the resources and expertise of both organizations to deliver products and services to our members,” Waite said. “I have tremendous respect for the CCCU’s leadership team and look forward to seeing what our combined organization can achieve as we grow healthier together.”
