Unitus Community Credit Union Announces Partnership with The Wetlands Conservancy

Unitus Community Credit Union has a new partnership with The Wetlands Conservancy to support the preservation and care of invaluable wetlands ecosystems. This partnership underscores the credit union’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community impact.

As part of the partnership, Unitus awarded The Wetlands Conservancy a $25,000 Community Impact Grant to help the organization continue its vital work, from restoration efforts to community education and access improvement.

Unitus President and CEO Steven Stapp and SVP/Chief Risk Officer James Alexander recently explored the five acres of dedicated wetlands on the Unitus Business Center–Tigard property. This visit was more than just a stroll through nature; it was a critical assessment to ensure the wetland’s condition, remove debris, and lay the groundwork for future initiatives. During their exploration, they encountered thriving native grasses and plants, diverse wildlife, and areas that may need restoration.

“This partnership aligns with our values and our social responsibility initiatives,” explained Stapp. “As we work to be good stewards of the wetlands at Unitus Business Center-Tigard, we look forward to learning from the expertise of The Wetlands Conservancy to maintain and protect this native ecosystem.”

“We are grateful for the Community Impact Grant which will help us continue our work to restore and maintain local wetlands,” said Katie Ryan, Executive Director of The Wetlands Conservancy, “and to educate our communities about the vital role wetlands play in our lives.”

Unitus celebrated International Wetlands Day on Feb. 2, and staff will work alongside The Wetlands Conservancy on Earth Day to clean up the wetlands at the Unitus Business Center-Tigard.
