Fibre Federal Credit Union and TLC Make the Season Bright for Foster Children

In November and December, Fibre Federal Credit Union and TLC hosted Christmas tag programs in their financial services centers to benefit children in foster programs.

In Washington, Fibre Federal fulfilled the wish lists for 210 children in foster care in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties. The credit union partnered with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) to create Christmas tag wish lists for each child, and the tags and donation barrels were placed in Fibre Federal’s financial services centers for shoppers to help donate.

Once tags were returned from community shoppers, credit union staff volunteers used donated funds to complete every remaining tag with needed items. Volunteers even had a special shopping guest – Corby the Bear, the team mascot of the Cowlitz Black Bears, the local minor league baseball team. After all items were packed up and sorted, DCYF collected and distributed the personalized gifts just in time for the holidays.

The credit union also partnered with foster child programs in Columbia, Clatsop, Tillamook, and Lincoln Counties in Oregon to collect donations of gifts and cash.

“We look forward to partnering with DCYF each year to help make wishes come true for local foster children during the holidays,” said Crystal Garrison, Marketing & Community Development Manager for Fibre Federal Credit Union. “Community donors really show their generosity during this event, and our volunteers are always ready to help fill in the gaps to ensure every child’s wishes come true.”
