On Dec. 11, Wash.-based Solarity Credit Union presented a $160,000 donation to Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports innovative healthcare programs as the philanthropic partner of MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, to support its CHAMPs Capital Campaign. This initiative focuses on expanding and renovating Children’s Village and the Family Birth Center at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital. The donation was made possible in part by a 3-to-1 matching grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
“We are proud to support families through the CHAMPs Campaign and help expand access to essential healthcare services in our valley,” shared Mina Worthington, Solarity Credit Union’s President and CEO. “Solarity is committed to making our community a better place to live, and a vital part of that is ensuring access to timely, high-quality medical care.”
Children’s Village serves more than 11,500 children annually, with hundreds of children on the waitlist for services. The donated funds will support a significant expansion of pediatric specialty care, behavioral health treatment rooms and the addition of maternal-fetal medicine services. Additionally, upgrades to the Family Birth Center will modernize birthing facilities that have not been updated in 30 years, increasing access to high-quality maternity care.
“These enhancements will fundamentally change the way Children’s Village and the Family Birth Center care for children and families,” added Erin Black, CEO of Memorial Foundation. “This donation from Solarity Credit Union, combined with the Federal Home Loan Bank’s matching grant, is a game-changer for our community. We are so grateful for their partnership and dedication to improving local healthcare.”
Laura Crooks, CEO of Children’s Village, emphasized the broader impact saying, “Children’s Village is a place where children and families thrive. Expanding access to pediatrics is transformative for our community. This is made possible because we have incredible partners like Solarity Credit Union standing alongside us.”
