Washington Lawmakers Gather at the Capitol to Prepare for 2025

Washington legislators are gathering in Olympia this week for the annual “Committee Assembly Days” when lawmakers travel in to finalize committee assignments and leadership, meet in committees to learn more about emerging topics they expect to tackle in 2025, and otherwise prepare for session.

Members of the House of Representatives met on Monday and Tuesday, with the House Consumer Protection and Business Committee focusing on property and casualty insurance availability, while the Senate will visit Thursday and Friday, with the Senate Financial Institutions Committee also diving in on insurance issues as well as small business support.

For some legislators who are retiring or otherwise not returning it’s a last chance to convene with colleagues and also provides an opportunity for newly elected but not yet sworn in legislators to get up to speed.

GoWest’s advocacy team has been on the ground in Olympia connecting with key legislators and other stakeholders on issues important to Washington’s credit unions. Later this week we’ll also provide an overview of the new leadership and committee assignments once those are finalized.
