Oregon Advocacy Engagement

Oregon credit union advocates have been busy engaging with elected officials in their district and at events.  Summer is a great time to connect with your local legislator and invite them to the credit union or meet them for coffee (maybe iced coffee!)

Here are some recent examples around the state:

  • The Willamette Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a “Tap into Advocacy” event at a local brewery where they hosted several Eugene area legislators to talk about the local community, serving in the Oregon Legislature, and the role of credit unions in the state.  Attending the event were:  Senator Floyd Prozanski, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Rep. Nancy Nathanson, Chair of the House Revenue Committee, Rep. Paul Holvey, Chair of the House Business Committee, and candidate Lisa Fragala, running for House District 8. Credit unions represented included: Oregon Community Credit Union, Selco Community Credit Union, Northwest Community Credit Union, and Pacific Cascade Federal Credit Union.
  • Fore!!! A team from OnPoint Community Credit Union and Rivermark Community Credit Union played in the Senate President annual golf tournament to support his campaign.

  • Several credit unions attended a meeting, hosted by Rob Stuart and OnPointCommunity Credit Union with Sen. Elizabeth Steiner, a candidate for State Treasurer. They talked about her goals for the Treasurer’s office and how credit unions play an important role in the work that the State Treasurer does and how credit unions can partner down the road. Credit Unions represented included:  Point West Credit Union, Advantis Credit Union, Providence Federal Credit Union, Forrit Credit Union, First Tech Federal Credit Union, and OnPoint Community Credit Union.
