Summer Sun Shines on Federal CU Advocacy

With the legislative sessions and the Spring Hike the Hill “on the books,” advocates set out this week to make some new memories and build on important relationships with members of Congress.

In Englewood, Colorado, advocates from Canvas, Premier Members, Colorado CU, Auroa Federal and Columbine Federal credit unions joined GoWest’s Ryan Fitzgerald, Katie March, and Madeline Robinson in a meeting with Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) for productive conversation around access to affordable housing, credit unions’ financial literacy priorities, how they can be important partners in helping members of the military, particularly after they leave the service, and how they can help veterans who own small businesses. This is a key priority for Rep. Crow, a former Army Ranger and bronze star recipient. Rep. Crow is pictured third from the right in the group photo.

GoWest’s Joe Adamack and Chris Kemm joined Washington advocates in Richland for a meeting with Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04), (pictured center) to discuss CU priorities.  STCU, HAPO, Gesa, Solarity, Numerica, and Tri-CU were all represented.

Ahead of the fall elections, credit unions are leveraging opportunities like these to host elected champions and candidates, where they are able to dive into specific issues and discuss how they are serving the districts’ constituents. Thank you to all advocates who are joining us in this important work this summer!
