Idaho CapEd Foundation Gives More Than $44,000 in Grants to Idaho Teachers

In May, the Idaho CapEd Foundation wrapped up its grant award cycle for the 2023-2024 school year by awarding 67 grants, totaling $44,545, to Idaho educators in 35 school districts.

The Idaho CapEd Foundation awards eight $800 grants monthly, from September through March each school year. Pre-K through 12th-grade teachers and educators at accredited Idaho schools are eligible to apply for funds that can be used for classroom projects and school programs that enhance students’ learning. Each application is reviewed by the CapEd Foundation Selection Committee, which includes many former Idaho educators.

“We are continually impressed by the applications for the Foundation’s teacher grants. Our review committee reviews the applications based on merit and the project’s impact on the classroom and schools,” said Trudi Mayes, Board President of the Idaho CapEd Foundation. “This year’s awardees range from phonetic communication, natural resources to chemistry equipment. The Idaho CapEd Foundation is pleased to support educators from across Idaho to help strengthen education and the lives of students and teachers.”

The Teacher Grant program began in 2008 and is now known as the Idaho CapEd Foundation. Since its inception, the Idaho CapEd Foundation Teacher Grant Program has given the Idaho education community more than $600,000 in financial support. While you don’t have to be a teacher to bank at CapEd Credit Union, membership still supports and gives back to local teachers and schools through the foundation.

“Our credit union is proud to support the Foundation in its work to help strengthen Idaho’s education community,” remarked Todd Erickson, CapEd Credit Union’s President and CEO. “Since 2008 we’ve provided financial support through the Teacher Grant Program. Since the Foundation’s inception in 2012, seeing over $600,000 provided to Idaho teachers has been amazing. Our continued support of educators is an important focus of our mission and is a key part of how we make a difference. For CapEd, it’s more than banking, it’s making a difference.”
