CO Division of Banking Bill – HB 1351 – passes House floor – onto the Senate!

The House met yesterday on Sunday, April 14, for an all day session to pass bills on third and final reading. House Bill 1351, the Division of Banking Sunset, which includes a provision which would allow a state-chartered bank to sell their assets to a credit union passed the floor 44 to 18. (insert House vote here)

The banks attempted to run an amendment on second reading on Thursday that would have stripped the provision from the bill that would allow a bank to sell their assets to a credit union. Led by the bill sponsors, Representative Judy Amabile and William Lindstedt, the legislature voted to defeat that amendment by a vote of 37 to 23. Representatives Javier Mabrey, Sheila Leider, and Cathy Kipp spoke in favor of credit unions during that debate.

The bill now heads to the Senate and we will work to schedule our first hearing.
