Division of Financial Services bill passes out of committee

Today at the State Capitol, the Finance Committee met to hear the Division of Financial Services Sunset for the very first time. This bill makes technical changes to the Division that regulates Credit Unions and includes 7 key recommendations from the Department of Regulatory Agencies — all of which make small changes to create efficiencies and modernize credit union regulations. GoWest supports all of the recommendations made by DORA in this proposed legislation.

During the hearing, DORA presented their recommendations and the committee voted to move forward with the proposed legislation in a 9 to 1 vote.

Representative Cathy Kipp and Representative Matt Soper agreed to sponsor the legislation and Representatives Marc Snyder, Lorena Garcia, William Lindstedt, Junie Joseph, and Chris deGruy Kennedy agreed to co-sponsor the legislation. We look forward to working with them as this legislation moves forward at the Capitol.

Please reach out to Representatives Kipp and Soper and thank them for sponsoring this legislation! You can email them at [email protected] and [email protected].
