Oregon Credit Unions, Cooperatives Host 20th Annual Co-op Luncheon

The annual co-op luncheon celebration began over 20 years ago with the idea that Oregon has many cooperatives that serve Oregonians in every part of the state.  Several organizations came together to promote the structure and impact of cooperatives in our state.  Sponsored by GoWest Credit Union Association, NW Agricultural Cooperative Council, Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and Oregon Telecommunications Association, the annual lunch is an event legislator are pleased to be invited to and honored to attend. By 2024, the event had grown to include over 100 guests: 30 legislators and more than 40 legislative office team members.

This year’s lunch was hosted on January 10th, the first of three days where the legislature comes together to talk about bills in preparation for the opening of the 2024 February 5th legislative session.  Legislators and their staff come across the street from the Capitol to enjoy the lunch. Most of the food was provided by our agricultural cooperatives in Oregon.  We showed a brief video educating lawmakers on cooperatives. Each of the partner cooperatives also provided updates on their work to serve Oregonians.  Each participating organization invites representatives, and we were honored to have several credit unions there including advocates from:  Valley Credit Union, First Tech Federal Credit Union, Unitus Community Credit Union, OnPoint Community Credit Union, and Maps Credit Union.
