Unitus Community Credit Union Ranked Fourth Most Philanthropic Corporation

Unitus Community Credit Union, based in Portland, Oregon, has been named the fourth most philanthropic large corporation in the Portland Metro Area by the Portland Business Journal.

In its annual ranking, PBJ recognized Unitus for its commitment to the communities it serves. This marks the 13th consecutive year Unitus has been ranked as a top ten large corporate philanthropist.

Unitus is just one of five credit unions to earn recognition in this giving category in 2022, which serves as a shining example of our philosophy in action. As local, not-for-profit financial institutions, credit unions give back to their communities through financial donations, community partnerships, and volunteer opportunities.

“Our operational model allows us to allocate funds and volunteer hours to support community efforts that inspire education and financial knowledge, grow economic mobility, and provide access to critical human services,” explained President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union Steven Stapp. “These pillars of giving align with the shared values that we have at Unitus.”

Unitus donated more than $419,000 to local charitable nonprofit organizations, with employee volunteer hours topping 1750. The credit union’s top charitable recipients were the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, the Urban League of Portland, the Western Oregon University Foundation, and AWARE Food Bank. Unitus’ global total value of cash, in-kind, and volunteer contributions was $577,582.

“We are honored to be continually recognized for our philanthropic efforts, which is only possible because of our members,” said Manager of Community Development at Unitus Aimee Berg. “Our members make community giving possible as they support our efforts to create meaningful impact in the communities we serve.”
