Prospects for the SAFE Banking Act

The SAFE Banking Act has been formally introduced in the House (H.R. 1996) and Senate (S. 910), both are bipartisan and well positioned. Senator Merkley (D-OR) is leading the effort in the Senate and is optimistic about the future of the bill, Senators Wyden (D-OR) and Murray (D-WA) are also co-sponsors. In the House, the bill has more than 140 bipartisan cosponsors, including 9 members of the Northwest delegation. The NWCUA will be hosting key meetings with our delegation and leadership in order to ensure strong Northwest support.
