The GoWest Credit Union Association is a fast-paced regional trade association serving credit unions in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.  We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vice President, Public Relations to lead and deliver strategic PR initiatives to enhance GoWest’s and its member credit unions’ influence and enhance the voice and reputation of credit unions among key stakeholders. This includes the three entities of the GoWest family, including the trade association, GoWest Solutions, and GoWest Foundation.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, develop, and execute comprehensive PR strategies to achieve GoWest’s PR goals.
  • Position GoWest and member credit unions as thought leaders in the financial services industry.
  • Ensure alignment of PR strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers.Establish GoWest as the “go-to” resource for media partners on financial services issues across the six-state region.
  • Conduct regular media roadshows and build strong relationships with local and national media.
  • Develop an internal thought leadership subject matter expert (SME) plan so GoWest leaders can be pitched and placed to trade and mainstream press.
  • Partner with credit unions to create compelling narratives supporting advocacy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with GoWest’s state and federal government affairs team on PR advocacy initiatives.
  • Recommend PR strategies that enhance GoWest’s voice to effectively influence policymakers.
  • Proactively identify and pitch media opportunities.
  • Prepare and implement crisis communication plans and strategies for use of GoWest credit unions.
  • Collaborate with member credit unions and industry leaders on c awareness to promote the credit union movement.
  • Develop messaging that resonates with key audiences and ensures consistent branding across all PR activities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in public relations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.  Experience in a credit union or financial industry is preferred.  They have a proven track record of developing and executing successful PR strategies and experience in leading crisis communication.

Salary ranges from $90,000 – 120,000 depending on experience. This position is eligible for a variable pay program which has a potential 10% of base salary earnings.  Employees (and dependents 50%) are covered by medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability.  Employees are eligible to enroll in our 401k plan.  New employees will accrue 15 days of vacation and 8 days of paid time off. In addition, employees will enjoy eleven paid holidays and two floating holidays.
