Rivermark Community Credit Union Expands Financial Inclusion With Juntos Avanzamos Designation

Rivermark Community Credit Union recently earned the Juntos Avanzamos designation, a national certification that recognizes credit unions committed to serving and empowering Hispanic and immigrant communities.

Juntos Avanzamos, which translates to “Together We Advance,” is awarded to financial institutions that help expand access to affordable financial services while fostering trust, inclusion, and belonging. Rivermark joins a network of more than 167 credit unions across 34 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia that have achieved the designation.

“This is a big deal and important milestone for Rivermark as less than 200 of the approximately 4,000 credit unions across the country hold this designation,” said Jason Werts, CEO of Rivermark Community Credit Union.

The designation reflects years of work by Rivermark to ensure its products, services, and delivery channels are accessible to a broad range of community members. Rivermark accepts alternative forms of identification, including Matrícula Consular cards, offers products for individuals with Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs), and provides Spanish-language support across branches, the contact center, chat, video banking, and video tellers. Spanish-speaking employees throughout the organization, along with interpreter services, help ensure members can access the support they need.

“This designation matters because it recognizes bilingual service capacity across staff and member-facing channels, products that are accessible to Hispanic and immigrant members, including ITIN lending, and bilingual financial empowerment programming,” Werts said. “Juntos Avanzamos gives us access to a network of peers to share best practices as well as an established and credible show of support and commitment to the Hispanic and immigrant communities.”

The designation is both a milestone and a foundation for future growth, as the credit union continues to invest in products, partnerships, and services that help remove barriers to financial access and expand opportunities for underserved communities.

“Our commitment to these communities does not end with this designation, and we continue to see the opportunity to serve the Hispanic and immigrant communities as a viable component of our strategic growth strategy,” Werts said.

Werts noted that earning the designation reflects the contributions of employees, members, and community partners across the region.

“I would like to thank our passionate and dedicated employees, our members who continue to put trust in their credit union, and our community partners,” Werts said. “Our Juntos Avanzamos designation would not be possible without all of these stakeholders.”
