Why it Matters: Wyoming Credit Union Day at the Capitol

Wyoming credit unions enter 2026 from a position of strength—and that success didn’t happen by accident.

The tremendously successful 2025 legislative session was the direct result of intentional, strategic work by credit unions across the state to build trust, credibility, and lasting relationships with policymakers and key influencers. That work didn’t begin on the first day of session, and it didn’t end when the gavel fell. It was built over time, through consistent engagement and a shared commitment to showing up as constructive, solutions-oriented partners.

Credit Union Day at the Capitol is the culmination of that year-round effort—and a critical opportunity to reinforce the relationships that drive long-term success. Make plans to attend the February 19 event in Cheyenne. Find more information here.

Attendees can expect to hear from GoWest President & CEO Troy Stang, a legislative update from Bobbie Frank, GoWest’s VP for Legislative Affairs for Wyoming, and an update from Hank Hoversland, Executive Director, Wyoming Taxpayers Association. Hank will offer his insights on Wyoming’s Tax structure, the state budget, and items on the legislative docket that will be of interest to credit unions. Attendees will also spend time in the Capitol.

This year’s program will also feature a new event, an evening reception hosted at the Blue FCU Community Center. It is designed to provide an opportunity to engage with legislators and networking time for attendees.

Credit Union Day at the Capitol is a dedicated moment to connect face-to-face with lawmakers, remind them who credit unions are, and reinforce the role we play in helping Wyoming families and communities thrive.

Just as importantly, it reinforces a reality we’ve seen time and again: the groundwork for legislative success is often laid long before a bill is introduced. Credit unions’ previous legislative wins were made possible by participation in critical conversations, hearings, education, and relationship-building that happened the year prior. Showing up, and timing, matters.

Leading on the Issues That Matter in 2026

As conversations continue in 2026, Wyoming credit unions are stepping forward as problem-solvers on the financial issues facing everyday families:

  • Protecting hard-earned dollars by combating fraud and scams
  • Helping shape the future of digital assets, ensuring new financial technologies are introduced safely and securely
  • Expanding access to homeownership, making it easier for Wyoming families to buy a home and build a future

Showing Up Makes the Difference

Credit Union Day at the Capitol is more than a single event—it’s a visible reminder that Wyoming credit unions are engaged, informed, and committed to being part of the solution.

By attending, credit unions reinforce their reputation as trusted partners, deepen relationships with legislators, and help ensure policymakers understand the real-world impact of the credit union model. These conversations build trust, create understanding, and lay the foundation for future success—just as they did in years past.

In Wyoming, advocacy works when credit unions show up together, tell their story, and continue building relationships year-round. Credit Union Day at the Capitol is a critical moment to do exactly that. You can find more information and register here.
