New InRoads Credit Union Foundation Deepens Community Investment and Expands Financial Wellness Initiatives

InRoads Credit Union recently launched the InRoads Credit Union Foundation, a new philanthropic initiative dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations that promote financial wellness across Northwest Oregon. The new foundation builds on InRoads’ legacy of giving — which has contributed millions to local causes over the years — creating a formal channel to accept donations from individuals and businesses, broadening the impact of InRoads’ community efforts.
“Our members are the heart of everything we do, and we believe that strong financial foundations create thriving communities,” said Nathan Cox, CEO and President, InRoads Credit Union. “The InRoads Foundation is an extension of our mission to elevate the financial wellness of our members and community. It will allow us to amplify the impact that InRoads already makes and support organizations making a difference every day.”
In conjunction with the launch, Aimee Thompson, InRoads’ Community Development Manager, has been promoted to serve as Executive Director of the InRoads Credit Union Foundation. Thompson’s long-standing involvement with local nonprofits, schools and community groups made her a natural fit for the role. Her deep connections within the communities InRoads serves and her passion for financial education will help guide the foundation’s strategy and partnerships.
“I’m honored to lead the InRoads Credit Union Foundation and continue the important work of investing in our communities,” said Thompson. “This foundation gives us a greater ability to collaborate with local organizations, expand access to financial education and support programs that help individuals and families build lasting stability.”
The foundation will provide grant funding starting at $1,000 to nonprofits serving Clatsop, Columbia, Cowlitz, Multnomah, and Washington counties. Grants will be awarded to programs focused on financial wellness through education, resources, and support services. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and must align with the foundation’s core values: innovation, inclusivity, empowerment, empathy, and collaboration.
In 2024 alone, InRoads donated nearly $160,000 to more than 50 local organizations and schools. The new foundation allows the credit union to engage more partners, expanding programming and elevating financial resilience across the region.
The InRoads Credit Union Foundation will begin accepting grant applications in January 2026.
