Advocates Kick Off Their Journey at GoWest’s Advocacy 101 Training – Up Next Advocacy 201!

On Aug. 13-14, advocates from across the GoWest region came together for the two-part Advocacy 101 Training, taking their first steps in building the skills and confidence needed to amplify the Credit Union Difference.

This foundational training connected participants’ powerful personal stories with practical strategies for communicating credit unions’ impact to policymakers and the community. Advocates also explored ways to get more involved, tapping into their credit union networks to advance shared priorities for the movement.

“Being able to connect the powerful stories of our credit union advocates in messaging the Credit Union Difference is essential for us to be successful in advancing credit union priorities,” explained Jordan Beyer, GoWest’s AVP of Grassroots Engagement.

Members of the GoWest Governmental Affairs team brought real-world perspective, sharing their experiences from the field and illustrating what effective advocacy looks like in action. Each participant left with a personal commitment — choosing the very next step they’ll take on their advocacy journey.

“Advocacy training is one of the most valuable investments we can make in our advocates,” said Chris Kemm, GoWest’s AVP of Political Engagement. “It equips credit union leaders and staff with the confidence, tools, and real-world strategies to share the Credit Union Difference and strengthen our movement by ensuring their voices are heard where it matters most.”

For those ready to deepen their engagement, Advocacy 201 Training is the next opportunity to grow as a credit union advocate and make an even greater impact.
