Elevations Credit Union announces the appointment of Ann Schmiesing, PhD, to the Elevations Credit Union Board of Directors. She is currently interim chancellor at the University of Colorado (CU) Denver as well as vice chancellor and executive vice provost for Academic Resource Management at CU Boulder.
Schmiesing has been both a CU faculty member and an Elevations Credit Union member for nearly 30 years and brings with her a deep understanding of the importance of the relationship between CU Boulder and Elevations.
“The board and I are thrilled to welcome Ann,” said Board Chair Ray Martinez. “Elevations has a meaningful, enduring relationship with the University of Colorado Boulder, and we have supported increased higher education access for many years. Ann’s extensive experience in higher education and at CU is invaluable to our board.”
In her current role, she leads academic resource strategy and analysis to support the university’s mission. Her current responsibilities at CU also include overseeing the Graduate School, Continuing Education, and CU Boulder Online. Schmiesing is also a German professor and a published writer.
“This board appointment is an honor for me,” Schmiesing said. “I’m a long-time supporter of both Elevations and CU Boulder. Considering Elevations’ relationship with CU and support of higher education access, serving on the Elevations Board of Directors aligns perfectly with my experience and passions.”
At CU Boulder, Schmiesing has led initiatives in budget transparency, resource enhancement, faculty and graduate student benefits and compensation improvements and more. She also played a pivotal role in the university’s pandemic response plans and future of work policies.
Schmiesing holds a PhD in German from the University of Cambridge, a master’s from the University of Washington, and studied at the University of Oslo and Willamette University.
