Copper State CU Young Professionals Supporting Phoenix Rescue Mission!

Arizona-based Copper State Credit Union’s Young Professional Committee held their first donation drive in June to help support Phoenix Rescue Mission, a leading provider of life-transforming solutions to persons facing hunger, homelessness, addiction, and trauma throughout the valley.

Over a month and a half, the YP Committee led a drive requesting employees and members donate feminine products and non-perishable food items. Bins were placed in Copper State’s branches and its corporate office for donation collections. In addition to the generous donations collected, the YP Committee donated $150 and the credit union made a matching $150 contribution – adding an additional donation of $300 worth of products and goods for the Mission.

“Our first donation drive for Phoenix Rescue Mission resonated deeply with many of us, especially given the soaring summer temperatures over 100°F,” said Tiffany Tafoya, Copper State’s Deposit Operations Manager & YP Committee Chair.

“I wanted to help support the Phoenix Rescue Mission by donating as my way of being able to give back to the community,” shared Erin Cafirma, Mortgage Servicing Manager at Copper State. “It allows me to be able to contribute positively to those in need by helping to provide everyday essentials. It is a small, but meaningful, step towards creating a compassionate environment for those in need.”

Copper State’s YP Committee is a recently formed group of approximately 15 committee members. “The YP group at Copper State was established to engage young professionals in our movement, offering opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and community service,” explained Tafoya.

They are extremely excited to share the success of the first donation drive and look forward to making a difference within their community and their credit union now and in the future. Upcoming initiatives include a professional development workshop focused on building LinkedIn profiles and a small business fair in October, aimed at benefiting both members and the local small business community. “We are committed to continuing our growth, serving our community, and giving back to our members and employees,” Tafoya concluded.
