The Colorado Young Credit Union Professionals (CYCUP) spearheaded a regional food drive on May 15, making a significant impact across the state. This remarkable effort, in collaboration with local credit unions, aimed to support families in need by assembling and distributing bags of food at Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver, Care and Share Food Bank in Colorado Springs, Loveland Food Share, and Pueblo Cooperative Care Center.
In Pueblo, the CYCUP group helped sort and prepare more than 5,000 pounds of food during their day of service. The Pueblo Cooperative Care Center serves more than 240 families each day, so the group’s day of hard work will make an impact for several weeks supporting thousands of families.

“Participating in the collaborative food drive across the state and in our local community was deeply meaningful to me,” shared Nathan Cape, CEO of Minnequa Works Credit Union. “Our time spent supporting the Pueblo Cooperative Care Center was a fantastic opportunity for young professionals in Pueblo area credit unions to actively engage in helping our local community, and it was great to see such impactful results from around the State for other chapters.”
The Colorado Springs group worked the day at the Care and Share Food Bank sorting and bagging fresh beets with 670 pounds of beets packaged into 134 five-pound bags. At the Loveland Food Share, the CYCUP group helped serve 178 families that came through the doors while they were volunteering.
The dedication of the Colorado YCUP group truly embodied the credit union spirit and the impact of collective effort. “CYCUP’s commitment to community volunteering is crucial because it fosters a sense of responsibility and compassion among young professionals, ensuring that the values that encompass ‘People Helping People’ are upheld and strengthened for many years to come,” Cape concluded.
