Credit Union West Welcomes Sonya Watkins to Board of Directors

Credit Union West, which serves nearly 95,000 members in Arizona, has appointed Sonya Watkins, Director of Recruiting Services at Humanidei, to its Board of Directors as an Associate Board Member. Watkins brings nearly three decades of experience across retail banking and credit unions, along with a proven record of strengthening teams, advancing service excellence, and leading with integrity.

Throughout her career, Watkins has focused on improving service delivery and helping individuals build financial confidence through education and support. Her experience spans branch operations through executive leadership, giving her a comprehensive understanding of how financial institutions grow, and how people thrive within them.

“Sonya embodies the heart of the credit union movement,” said Karen Roch, President and CEO of Credit Union West. “Her commitment to developing people, fostering inclusive workplaces, and leading with purpose will be an incredible asset to our Board and to the communities we serve.”

Watkins is especially passionate about creating environments where the credit union philosophy of People Helping People comes to life, ensuring employees feel supported, members feel empowered, and organizations remain rooted in service.
