Your Story Matters! Make It Heard at Your 2026 Credit Union Day at the Capitol
Posted by Alyse Knudsen on December 9, 2025
Advocacy is job one, and every conversation with a lawmaker begins with a story. No story is more powerful than yours: it’s one of people helping people, members building financial strength, and communities growing stronger through local impact.
During the 2025 Days at the Capitol, more credit union advocates participated in our six-state region than ever before. Nearly 850 credit union professionals converged on state capitols during the January and February events, meeting with more than 340 state senators, representatives, and staffers.
The 2026 Credit Union Day at the Capitol (DAC) in your state is the next chance to bring your story, along with relevant data and policy asks, directly to the people who make decisions that affect your members, your teams, and your community. When credit union advocates show up, lawmakers listen — and relationships are built that shape policy for years to come.
“Meeting with legislators was such an eye-opening experience. It was a powerful reminder that the work we do every day extends beyond our branches and into policies that shape the financial well-being for our members,” shared Ali Porter, Sr. Marketing Campaign Manager at Arizona Financial Credit Union, about participating in the 2025 Arizona DAC. “Having the opportunity to share real stories with my elected representative about our impact made the day especially meaningful.”
At each state’s DAC, credit union advocates will join together for:
- Conversations with lawmakers on relevant policy and credit union priorities
- Insights from state leaders on key policy issues and legislative priorities
- Advocacy training to help you tell your credit union’s story effectively
- Networking and collaboration with credit union peers from across your state
Whether you’re new to advocacy or a seasoned participant, your presence helps amplify the collective voice of credit unions — and ensures that lawmakers understand the difference credit unions make in every community they represent. This helps shape policy decisions, pass vital legislation, and prevent the passage of harmful laws and regulations.
