Minnequa Works Credit Union and the Helping Hands Foundation Donate Over $5,000 to Support Local Families Battling Cancer

Minnequa Works Credit Union, in partnership with the Helping Hands Foundation of Minnequa Works, is donating more than $5,000 to the Dorcy Cancer Center in support of patients and families fighting cancer in Southern Colorado.
This contribution was made possible through a community-driven initiative during the month of October, when Minnequa Works pledged to donate $50 for every new checking account opened. Thanks to the support of new members throughout the region, the credit union was able to generate substantial funds to give back during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“The Dorcy Cancer Center plays an essential role in the lives of so many in our hometown,” said Nathan Cape, CEO of Minnequa Works Credit Union. “We are driven to be the Local Difference for our community, to uplift and support in meaningful ways.”
In addition to the credit union’s campaign, the Helping Hands Foundation of Minnequa Works contributed an additional $2,000 to help elevate the overall impact. The Foundation focuses on initiatives that support health and wellness, local youth education, and community beautification across Southern Colorado — making this donation a perfect fit for its mission.
Leaders from Minnequa Works recently visited the Dorcy Cancer Center to present the check and tour several impact areas within the facility. The experience was described as both humbling and inspiring, as the team witnessed firsthand the compassion and resilience that define the center’s patients, families, and care teams.
The Dorcy Cancer Center provides comprehensive, patient-centered cancer treatment for individuals throughout Southern Colorado, offering advanced technology, specialized care teams, and vital support programs that help patients navigate their cancer journey with dignity and hope.
“This donation reflects our commitment to standing with those who are fighting cancer and ensuring they have the resources and hope they need during one of life’s most difficult journeys,” Cape added.
