Over 30 credit union representatives participated in a discussion with Wyoming State Treasurer Curt Meier and Wyoming Stable Token Commission Executive Director Anthony Apollo last Friday to explore opportunities for Wyoming’s credit unions to partner with the state in offering the recently released Wyoming Frontier Stable Token.
Apollo provided a high-level overview of Blockchain and Wyoming’s Stable Token Act and the recently passed GENIUS Act. He discussed what the Wyoming Stable Token offers that privately issued tokens do not. A copy of the presentation is available here. Apollo shared that working with Rain to provide a stablecoin powered card.
The Commission is through rules and will approve license service providers to offer Wyoming Stable Token. Many partners can fit into the license service provider definition, including financial institutions. An intake form will be required, and approval and agreement with the Commission.
Regulatory rollout implementing the GENIUS Act is in the works. An additional session will be planned with the Wyoming Stable Toke Commission and credit unions as more clarity is provided through the federal rulemaking and guidance process.
