WY Legislature’s Management Council Releases Interim Study List

After the Management Council action to reduce interim committee meeting days from six to four, unless additional days are requested and approved, the committees released their revised final interim study topic list.
The following topics are of specific interest to credit unions:
Judiciary – Potential probate code revisions.
Revenue – Property tax issues and sales tax issues, including how sales tax is collected on ATV’s and other vehicles.
Corporations – Election issues, Opportunity zones and regulatory sandboxes including an update on proposed “Freedom Cities” an effort at the federal level to drive economic growth through deregulation. The committee will also discuss potential revisions to the Uniform Commercial Code including a presentation from the Uniform Law Commission. Workforce housing will continue to be discussed however the committee does not anticipate any legislation due to the lack of movement on interim bills in the past several sessions.
Transportation – Will hear agency updates including the Department of Transportation updating on electronic titling.
Labor, Health, and Social Services – Will discuss restricting the use of AI in determining insurance eligibility specific to prior authorization processes.
Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation – has a number of topics of interest including AI governance, personal data privacy and ownership, state engagement with technology and a review of previously enacted legislation.
Select Committee on Capitol Financing and Investments – The committee will focus heavily on the states investment earnings.
This week the Joint Corporations Committee will meet Thursday and Friday in Lander.
