Elevations Credit Union’s Chief People Officer Receives Award from Blind Institute of Technology

Tammy Teitscheid, Chief People Director at Elevations Credit Union, recently won the Diana Ferguson Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award from the Blind Institute of Technology (Blind IT), a staffing and recruiting organization dedicated to growing employment opportunities for disabled professionals.

“Elevations is committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed, valued, respected, and heard,” Teitscheid said. “Partnering with Blind IT has been crucial in providing the knowledge and resources for our leaders to better support the disabled community. This recognition celebrates the meaningful impact of our partnership and the opportunities it creates for all.”

Teitscheid spearheaded a professional relationship with Blind IT that has shaped Elevations in many ways. In 2023, leaders at Elevations participated in training that helped them feel more comfortable talking about disabilities and understanding biases. This led to Blind IT and Elevations collaborating to match a low-vision job candidate with an opportunity at the credit union.

In 2024, through an interactive session at an all-staff meeting, credit union team members also gained an enhanced understanding of low-vision experience.

“By spearheading a transformative relationship with Blind Institute of Technology, Tammy has set a benchmark for true inclusion at Elevations,” said Mike Hess, Founder and Executive Director of Blind IT “Her leadership demonstrates how meaningful partnerships can empower professionals with disabilities and drive workplace accessibility forward.”

Hess and Teitscheid met and began collaborating in 2022 at the Denver Business Journal’s inaugural DE&I award ceremony, during which both organizations were recognized. A year later, Teitscheid also became a board member at Blind IT.
