Senator Barrasso and Wyoming Credit Unions connect in Casper

Wyoming credit union leaders had the opportunity to spend some time with Senator John Barrasso, R-WY today in his hometown of Casper. Senator Barrasso shared his priorities with the group including conservative fiscal policies, energy development and fighting to ensure Wyoming remains a national and world leader in the energy sector. He expressed the importance of the House electing a leader enabling Congress to move forward on important actions considering recent world events.

Credit union leaders thanked the Senator for his co-sponsorship of the Credit Union Board Modernization Act (S-610) and shared their views on priority issues including protection of the tax status, interchange fees, expansion of member business lending, NCUA insurance limits including increasing the insured cap as well as the importance of parity in the FDIC levels. Leaders provided information on the myth of “junk fees” and the importance of reasonable fees in providing services to members.
