Job Description:
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of the credit union
- Conduct new hire onboarding, training and teach our culture
- Confer with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations and credit union initiatives.
- Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, meetings or workshops.
- Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, power-point, tutorials and the utilization of SharePoint.
- Assist managers with questions concerning “how to” execute specific tasks.
- Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
- Stay up to date on the most current policies, procedures, products, operating systems and regulatory compliance requirements in order to provide accurate information to staff.
- Work with upper-management to define training needs of the credit union.
- Develop testing to measure the effectiveness of the training and measure employee(s) progress. Determine if objectives of the training sessions are being met.
- Generate monthly training reports for courses taken by all credit union staff through SharePoint and CPD, maintain course catalog of internal and external courses and any other training vendors.
- Assist managers in monitoring and maintaining learning measurement criteria to ensure that training content addresses performance gaps.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in a financial institution environment. Position is 100% in office.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The Training Specialist position is a full-time position, non-exempt position. This position is 100% in office, no remote work.
Travel:
Will be expected to travel on occasion for continued education, seminars and training.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of two to three years’ experience in a financial institution environment.
- Previous credit union and training experience or one year related training experience.
- Ability to mentor and coach employees.
