Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Produce consistent and uniform internal and external technical documentation through writing, rewriting, and translating data into findable, usable content intended for a variety of audiences.
  2. Participate in working groups to recommend solutions, perform technical analysis, provide cybersecurity white papers, design execution plans, and conduct studies and research on new technologies and/or initiatives.
  3. Manage simultaneous documentation projects, including but not limited to, policies and programs where you engage with various stakeholders to raise the bar on and publish content.
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of information management operations, culture, policies, procedures, training materials, and general security practices.
  5. Apply knowledge of SharePoint site building tools to help maintain Information Security and Enterprise Security internal use sites.
  6. Collaborate with Information Management subject matter experts on the creation and maintenance of employee policy and procedure documents.
  7. Ensure compliance reviews of policy, program, and procedure documents are completed.
  8. Ensure consistency in documentation as it relates to security practices and controls.
  9. Draft, publish, and distribute employee communications per Information Management communication process.
  10. Prepare and distribute updated procedures, forms, and intranet content.
  11. Obtain and document appropriate review and approval on any content published or updated.
  12. Ensure policies are reviewed annually and when significant changes occur.
  13. Identify and recommend improvements to existing policies, programs and processes, and update documentation as appropriate.
  14. Partner with product and project management teams to assist drafting or modifying related security policies, programs, and procedures.
  15. Effectively prioritize and adjust workload order to balance department priorities in support of organizational projects and objectives.
  16. Assist in developing or maintaining style guidelines across platforms to produce consistent materials and messaging.
  17. Copy edit peers’ work.
  18. Promote and provide excellent customer service and support.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor in Cybersecurity, Technical Writing, Risk Management, Business Administration, English, Communication, Computer Science, or related field.

 

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Equivalent management and/or technology certifications. For example, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Security+,  Five years’ experience in a similar role.

Experience/Skills: Four years of experience in financial institution operations or commensurate experience with the credit union relating to policy/procedure development and administration. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and in Microsoft SharePoint preferred. Familiar with security frameworks like NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, and/or COBIT. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must understand grammatical conventions and write in a clear and fluent manner. Strong research skills. Experience with process mapping or information mapping preferred, but not required. Strong organizational skills with strict attention to details and timeframes required. Able to work independently, handle a variety of tasks, and self-proof work.

Tenure: Assignment to the Technical Writer I, Technical Writer II or Technical Writer III will be determined by the candidate’s education and experience. Advancement requires management recommendation and will be based on the candidate’s certifications and/or performance.
