Position Overview:
SFCU is seeking a Lending Manager to lead and oversee the operations of their Loan Department. This role ensures effective and efficient lending practices, exceptional member service, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The Lending Manager will lead by example, managing loan operations, coaching staff, and driving innovation while supporting the credit union’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- General Leadership:
– Represent SFCU professionally and courteously in all interactions.
– Maintain a positive and supportive attitude with members and colleagues.
– Promote credit union products and services tailored to member needs.
– Ensure compliance with all regulations, including BSA, TRID, and OFAC policies.
- Loan Department Management:
– Oversee all lending operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
– Develop and implement loan policies and strategies aligned with organizational goals.
– Mentor, coach, and train loan staff to meet and exceed performance standards.
– Analyze lending activity and prepare reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
– Drive adoption of technology within the Loan Department to enhance efficiency and member service.
– Collaborate with senior management on product development, promotions, and strategic initiatives.
- Loan Origination & Member Service:
– Conduct member interviews, assess needs, and recommend loan products that align with their goals.
– Evaluate credit reports, calculate debt-to-income ratios, and determine loan terms per policies.
– Guide members through the loan process, including application, approval, and disbursement.
– Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of mortgage loan processing for complex, high-value loans.
– Provide proactive member support, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints promptly.
- Compliance & Reporting:
– Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations, policies, and credit union products.
– Oversee the maintenance of loan files (both paper and electronic).
– Monitor delinquency rates, manage collection efforts, and address member bankruptcies.
Requirements:
- Required:
– Current or recent hands-on Mortgage Origination experience with NMLS Registry #.
– Strong lending experience with knowledge of consumer, vehicle, and mortgage loans.
– Proven success in loan origination, including underwriting and member engagement.
– Leadership experience, including mentoring and coaching loan officers or staff.
– Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the financial sector.
- Preferred:
– Bachelor’s degree or completion of CUNA Management School.
– 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a financial institution.
– Credit union experience.
– Background in originating loans and driving loan growth in a member-focused environment.
– Proficiency with loan technology and innovation.
– Experience in small organizations where employees manage diverse responsibilities.
