Job Summary Overview
The position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day servicing functions related to functions related to SBA guaranteed loans and providing strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of loan servicing.
Essential Job Functions
- Manages and leads government guaranteed operations specialist.
- Establishes procedures and reports to control, balance and monitors the accuracy of Loan Servicing.
- Assists preparing for audits and regulatory examination.
- Responsible for SBA loan servicing focused on high level customer service and complex technical supports to SBA and USDA lending partners.
- Responsible for managing the servicing of SBA loans withing the parameters set forth in the SBA Servicing and Liquidation SOPs.
- Remains current and maintains a strong knowledge of SBA standard operations procedures, in all aspects of servicing and liquidation.
- Interacts and communicates with the SBA and UDSA Loan Servicing Centers.
- Oversees of construction disbursement and monitoring in conjunction with the credit union and/or SOP guidelines.
- Develops and implements initiative to improve loan servicing performance and productivity with an emphasis on process automation.
- Manages departmental members and business partners escalations to ensure positive member experience.
- Manage all boarding of new and change in terms of all SBA and USDA loans commercial loans to core systems based on approved loan write-ups, accurate borrower information, and completes loan documentation packages.
- Provides the necessary direction to the system administrators to ensure efficient production by performing data entry and testing for the various updates to our systems (i.e. – LaserPro, Silver Lake etc.).
- Provides the necessary direction to other departments within the company to ensure efficient servicing of loan portfolio of the company, compliance with company and regulatory compliance and minimize losses.
- Manages the Credit Union’s loan servicing functions by establishing, updating, and enforcing policies and procedures in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and other agency regulations and standards.
- Oversees the processing of payoffs, principal and/or interest adjustments, interest reserve payments, loan advances, and construction draws. Performs and call back daily loan maintenance (e.g., loan grade, rate, address, loan officer changes, etc.) ensuring changes are authorized prior to input and correctly applied to the system.
- Monitors delinquent taxes by reviewing tax service reports, and updates core systems as need with current information.
- Oversees written demand of payoff requests and loan verifications in a timely manner.
- Provides timely and accurate communication to leadership concerning documentation and boarding errors, client service issues, compliance or SBA reporting irregularities, or any other matters that pose a risk to the credit union.
- Understands of and compliance with regulatory guidelines including but not limited to CRA, BSA, Patriot Act, etc., as the regulations pertain the employee’s job function.
- Oversees the preparation of the Monthly 1502 Report ensuring accuracy and remittance according to the schedule due dates identified by the FTA.
- Oversees and ensures Late payments are processed timely, and accurately.
- Ensures modifications on secondary market loans are approved by the FTA prior to making the change internally.
- Interfaces with management, underwriting, processing, and closing to package loans to be sole on the secondary market.
- Reviews various loan reports and related documentation on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to ensure accuracy of information recorded in the core lending system.
- Oversees daily balancing and resolution for general ledger, SBA, and USDA DDA Accounts.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED and five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in loan servicing, including loan support systems. Three (3) years’ experience managing servicing teams. Strong understanding of operational risks and processes in an SBA Lending environment. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational research and follow-up skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of SBA Program, Servicing, and Liquidation SOP’s. Experience in commercial and SBA loan documentation. Professional written, verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to produce quality work within tight time frames while managing multiple assignments. Strong with ethic, the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing deadlines, advanced interpersonal skills, excellent communications skills, and the desire to work as a team to support the overall success of the credit union.
Licenses, Training, and Certifications Required
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent work experience in the lending industry.
- Experience in SBA Modifications, Servicing Actions and Liquidations.
- Knowledge of Siverlake and Laser Pro.
- Construction lending experience.
