Job Description:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible to maintain the highest standards of Integrity, Personal Responsibility, Sense of Community, and Teamwork by self-example and monitoring of staff within and outside Pacific Crest FCU.
- Manage corporate policy in compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
- Keep informed of legislation, regulations, judicial and other legal developments, and trends affecting federal credit unions and the financial services industry in general.
- Analyze and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations with probable outcomes for the credit union and its subsidiaries.
- Advise business units in partnership with the Compliance team on NCUA, CFPB, and other consumer regulatory compliance matters related to consumer lending, deposit products, or services, such as Regulation Z, FCRA, FDCPA, FACTA, Truth In Lending Act (TILA), privacy, as well as applicable federal or state consumer protection laws and regulations such as Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAPs).
- Provide counsel to Pacific Crest personnel on a broad array of proposed, new, or existing retail loan and account products and services with a focus on bankruptcy, consumer protection, collections, mortgage servicing, indirect lending, and FinTech partnerships.
- Draft, review, and/or revise various legal documents involving the interests of the credit union, its subsidiaries, and members, including commercial contracts and regulatory disclosures.
- Partner with outside counsel in the management and monitoring of all pending or threatened litigation and provide pertinent research and information concerning those matters as requested.
- Partner with outside counsel as needed to appear and/or represent the credit union and its subsidiaries in a variety of civil actions including bankruptcy, delinquency collection, consumer protection, intellectual property, and real estate matters.
- Provide support for investigations regarding policy or conduct violations by staff, management, contractors, or vendors.
- Proactively identify and advise the CEO on potential challenges and risks to the credit union’s strategic position and assist with the resolution of these issues as possible.
- Perform such other duties for Pacific Crest as assigned by the CEO based on the needs of the credit union or career growth interests.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- 7-10 years of working as a licensed attorney, in the financial industry preferred
- Juris Doctorate. Licensed to practice in Oregon and California or capable of being licensed in Oregon and California

- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
SPECIAL FACTORS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) is necessary.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
- Stooping; kneeling; crouching; and reaching below, at, and over shoulder level required.
- Sitting – 80%; standing and walking – 20%.
- Hearing, visual, and verbal ability required.
