Express CU is excited to announce a new opportunity to lead a financial education and training program for our members and staff. The position will be hybrid with regular work expected at the Express office and around the Puget Sound Region.

Areas of Responsibilities include:

  • Community Outreach & Education
  • Create financial education materials to remain relevant and engaging for diverse audiences.
  • Improve and develop a young adult financial education curriculum based on the needs and feedback of community partners.
  • Coach team members on facilitating effective and engaging presentations
  • Conducts member and community-focused financial education presentations virtually and in person.
  • Attends community events and shares information about Express’s Financial Education offerings.
  • Represents and promotes Express services in the community, cultivation of potential partners as appropriate in collaboration with the Business Development team.
  • Works closely with the Business Development Team to coordinate financial education activities for students and community organizations along with monthly educational offerings directly to Express members.
  • Conducts school-based outreach activities to assess the needs of educators and students.
  • Solicits and incorporates participant feedback.
  • Understand Express products and services. Accepts new member and loan applications as needed while in the community.
  • Collaborates effectively with the ECU management team in helping develop annual plans and be a strategic leader in enhancing Financial Education at Express.
  • Support and participate in new product development and implementation based on trends and needs of members and community.
  • Support education and training development internally for Express staff. Collaborate with the management team to prepare and facilitate training as needed.
  • Assist in identifying tools, referral resources, and materials for members as it pertains to increasing and managing their wealth and creating generational wealth for their families.

Qualification and Skill Requirements – The ideal candidate will possess most of the following qualities and attributes.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of experience and education (ideal areas of study could be Education, Communications/Marketing, Training, Volunteer Management)
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, and reliable means of transportation
  • Strong commitment to ECU’s mission and embraces our values
  • Experience in working with diverse communities- demographic and economically diverse
  • Understanding of economic inequality and the structural barriers linked to poverty.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with staff, members, and community partners.
  • Certified Financial Counselor – will receive access to training if not already certified.
  • Knowledge of public benefit systems, such as TANF, SNAP, SSDI, and SSI.
  • Experience using Microsoft-based programs and video conference platforms to create and facilitate presentations.

We anticipate qualified candidates to have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with basic financial education – has an understanding and comprehension of the materials that we’ll be creating and presenting to members and the community.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration with teams.

Physical Environment and Work Environment

This is a hybrid position but working in the office with our team is always a good time. Primarily works in standard office conditions and climate. Primarily works at a desk and computer likely for extended periods. Will be expected to travel to partner locations from time to time to facilitate education or other networking opportunities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary $48,400-$62,400 DOE
  • $59,226.64-$73,226.64 annually including the cost of monthly benefits, paid by the employer.
